| Todays Topic What’s in Your Heart? For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: (Matthew 15:19). I remember back in the day when most Pentecostals were more concerned about what a person had on than what was really in a person’s heart. If a person wore earrings, makeup and lipstick, you were considered worldly and if a woman put on a pair of pants that was the ultimate sin she was on her way to hell in a heartbeat. The longer you wore your dress and the plainer your face was, the holier you appeared too many in the church. It is funny how as I was growing in church how I saw some of these same Christians who wore long dresses down to the floor and whose faces were plain with no makeup on, loved to gossip and hurt other people in church. I saw some of these same self-righteous religious people, be filled with hatred, pride, bitterness, strife, jealousy unforgiveness and lust. You see salvation is not an outside thing but it’s an inside work of grace. Many times in the scriptures, Jesus had to rebuke the judgmental and self-righteous Pharisee. He had to tell them that; it’s not so much what a person does or what he or she eats that makes them dirty, but it’s what’s on the inside of a person’s heart. Jesus is the only man, besides Superman that had x-ray vision. Jesus, like Superman could see through things. You might be able to fool me, but you can never fool Jesus. He sees beyond what the natural eye can see. He knows what is really in a person’s heart. This is what the man with the x-ray eyes can see in our hearts. Out of your heart I see evil thoughts. Your spirit controls your mind. Evil thoughts came out of your spirit because it was contaminated. Those evil thoughts contaminated your mind where yourspirit was supposed to be unpolluted and sanctified. The devil works through our spirit, which he tries to take over our body. He brings thoughts through our minds that come outward first; if we learn to cast it out of our minds early we will over throw the plan of the devil. If you let it take root it will take over your spirit and now you are walking in what you thought. The heart is the core of your spirit. The condition of your spirit is important because your spirit is the steering column of your whole existence. The state of your spirit is going to determine that state which you view from. Let's keep our hearts clean for God is looking at what is in our heart not earrings, makeup and lipstick. I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:10). | |
